TRIP ITINERARY FROM CUSCO TO PUNO Or Vice Versa

DAY 1: CUSCO - PALCOYO RAINBOW MOUNTAIN - RAQCHI RUINS AND HOMESTAY

Our trip begins from customer hotel at 5AM located in Cusco downtown only - Firstly we aboard our private transport and drive on the way to Puno accompanied by sunrise over the southern valley of Cusco till a picturesque town of Cusipata to have country breakfast served next of Rio Vilcanota.
Around 8AM we take a dirt and gravel road across upper valley of Combapata, passing through a nice canyon for about 2hrs up to 4800M (15748 feet’s). At that hight you will get super nice views of mountains, snow-caps, glaciers, very remote villages inhabited by local shepherds raising Llamas and Alpacas around PALCOYO rainbow mountain (7 colors mountains). Here will be OPTIONAL very slowly hiking for about 2hrs to find the best natural viewpoints to enjoy great panorama of 7 different rainbow mountains surrounding the rock forest and the amazing vast red valley.
DayTrip To Montaña 7 Colores And Valle Rojo
After 3hrs as maximum time to enjoy this natural wonder, we drive back to the bottom of the valley or OPTIONAL downhill hike for about 1hr through great wetland decorated by groups of Llamas and Alpacas. The lunch will be offered at bottom of the valley.
Around 3PM we drive to visit one of the most recognized Inca temples as known as Raqchi. These mud building were considering very important ceremonial temple during the Inca epoch until the conquest by the spaniers.
Between 5PM and 6PM we will arrive to local family in Raqchi towm (3550M - 11646.98 feet’s). The local family will provide you the room and dinner... local home sweet home (B - L - D).

DAY 2: LA RAYA - CAÑON DE TINAJANI - WISA WISA RAIMONDI PUYA FOREST - LAMPA - PUNO

Today at 7AM everyone will have breakfast offered by the family. We take asphalt road up to La Raya pass (4340M 14238.85 feet’s), this place is the border between Cusco and Puno - This spot offer great view of Chimboya snow-cape (5490M - 18011.81 feet’s) which is part of Cordillera de los Andes and geographically it is considered the intersection of Rio Vilcanota that flows to Atlantic and in other side the river flows to Titicaca Lake.
Around 9AM will be arrive to cañon de Tinajani. The local people know this place as "Cañon Del Diablo" (devil's canyon), because during the rainy season the waters of the river produce stranger sounds in the whole canyon, combined with huge rare anthropomorphic figures makes a unique place to make photos from different angles.
At 10:30AM we arrive to Wisa Wisa canyon where is located one of the biggest areas of Puya forest with exceptional show (Puya Raimondi Harms - Bromeliáceae family).
This undiscover Andean place offer a perfect scenery to walk through great forest lot of Puyas de Raimondi (Relative of the pineapple), it is the largest bromeliad, and also has several characteristics that make it unique. For tens of years, its thorny leaves grow until it seems, in the distance, a giant chagual (maguey or agave). For botanic lovers this is a paradise to get in contact with lot Puyas, that grows up to 10M, and produce up 10 million of seeds and can live from 4 to 100 years. According reliable information there is no bigger inflorescence on the planet, and is considered the "Queen plan of the Andes", because during the flowering season is for sure to observe lots humming birds flying around to extract the nectar.
Puya Raimondi One more hour driving through remote landscape we will arrive to Lampa (3870M), at this town we will have lunch to taste the local cuisine. Lampa is also as known as the “Andean pink city of the 7 wonders” or “The Sistine of America”.
Here exists the St. James church entirely build with stone and considered one of the most beautiful colonial structure dating between 1675 and 1685, also we will see the replica of La Piedad, by Michelangelo. There is also a Catacombs decorated with lots skull and human skeletons.
Around 3PM we will we driver for about into the busy city of Juliaca and then 1 more hour to the city of Puno and drop-off at the door of your hotel and end of service (B - L).
PS: For customer wanting to end the trip in Llachon bay (homestay) or at the port of Puno to take the boat to stay with a local family in the floating island of Los Uros.
