Ceremonial & Administrative Center - a half day tour

At 08.00 am or 02.00 pm pick up from your hotel in Pisco / Paracas and travel by the way Los Libertadores (to Cusco). There is located Tambo Colorado an important Inca administrative center maybe found opposite km 5 on this highway. Its original name appears to have been Pucatampu. Building to be administration center in the Inca Pachacútec times, who constituted a connection point with the Inca road joining Ayacucho with the Pacific coast. The North part of the complex, that is the best one conserved, is a great quadrangular building, subdivided inner in numerous rooms and an extensive court, and separated by passages or runners. Distributed around a plaza, there are different buildings, some of which were used in ceremonies and others for more profane purposes, such as warehouses or living quarters.

Its main architectonic detail is the red and yellow filling in of the walls of the buildings and the profusion of niches of trapezoid cut, that decorate the walls. The archaeologist Federico Kauffman indicates that Tambo Colorado is the expression of the architecture born from the Inca invasion (Cusco). It is possible to be observed the doors and trapezoid hornacinas, as well as a series of stones worked with special style.
