CERRO BLANCO SAND DUNE is located between the Coastal and the high Andes, considerate the highest sand dune in the world. Cerro Blanco (2070m) is the only sand dune surrounded by the brown and rocky mountain, two large valley located on the south and north side. In the Incas time was considerate sacred place where they did offering to the “Apus” (mountains), today Cerro Blanco is a perfect sand dune to practice Sandboard, Dune Buggy, Paragliding, Atv´s tours, Downhill mountain bike, trekking and camping on the sand slopes. We are the first travel agency running adventure tours supporting the environment, flora and fauna of this dune.
CERRO BLANCO SAND DUNE TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1: NASCA - SOL DE ORO (GOLD MINING) - CERRO BLANCO BASE CAMP
At 11AM pick up from your hotel or from bus stop or airport of Nasca and journey following the road to Cusco - The tour includes stop at Los Paredones ruins, and Nasca culture time where complex of urban and ceremonial rooms dedicated to the sun good, all than constructed with adobe and rocks. On the next stop enter to the acueducts, also build by the Nasca civilization and considerate the most development hydraulic engineering of all the old Peruvian cultures. Continue driving will pass the abandoned gold mining company, named “sol de oro” (Gold sun) located 11KM away from Nasca. After 11/2 hours arrival to the trailhead (km23), from here 3 hours climb following single track through small hills and canyons.
Around 4PM we arrive to the camping zone (1900M), located on the southeast face of Cerro Blanco (2070M) - We set up the tents in middle of the desert and practice sandboard on the top of the dune till sunset time - Diner included with starry sky on the middle of nothing and breathing serenity and silence on the highest sand dune in the world.
DAY 2: CERRO BLANCO SUMMIT 2070M - TARUGA VALLEY - NASCA
Today breakfast will be at 6am with best sunshine over our tents and then packing our stuff to climb again the summit for good photos - We practice more sandboarding on the small dune trying several techniques of the board until we are ready to go downhill Sandboarding on the Taruga valley. After one our feeling the adrenaline and amazing falls will reach and other type of terrain (rocky) descending entering to coastal weather - Taruga is other valley located on the south of Nasca and covered by algarrobo trees (Huatango) where is possible to observe 56 type of birds from the coast, sometimes is possible to see the Andean condors flying around the dune moving from the Andes to the Pacific ocean looking for dead sealions next of beaches
At 2PM arrival to point where will be waiting our private van to drop off us to hotel in Nasca and end of service.

4. Confirm & pay deposit of 50% at booking time
A payment of 50% deposit of the total amount must be paid to us at booking time. The balance is to be paid in full on your arrival date or just before to begin the tour (meeting day). If we receive your booking for less than 10 days prior to the tour start date, might we will ask for payment to be made in full once you confirm the tour, ask for this before you book the tour.

5. Final Payment & Enjoy your tour
The final payment can be paid in different ways according each tour booked. One way when we meet you at the airport of Lima after your arrive to Peru. Other way is when we meet at your hotel one day before to start the service/tour, we use this method especially for people booking some hiking and climbing tours because we need to check the equipments as tents, ice axe, sleeping bags, etc. Normally the meeting time happens one day before depart between 6 to 8pm at the lobby of your hotel.
The final way is contacting the travelers just few minutes before to begin the service/trip; this can be at the hotel, airport, bus station or in our local offices.
After you confirm the booking form and the first deposit we will e-mail you mentioned how which option we will chose to arrange the final balance of the trip.
NOTE: Some tours can be booked directly in our local offices in Cusco or Arequipa. If there is availability for the requested tour will be a pleasure to fit you on the tour and you can pay the full amount in US dollars cash or local currency (soles). RAIN SEASON
Some cloud days between January to March, but no rain because this sand dune is located on the driest coastal area.
BEST TIME FOR CLIMBING
All the year - The best season is between April and July because the slopes of the dunes offer great desert flora and more wildlife as foxes and andean Condors flying around.
ADVICE FOR CLIMBERS
To have minimum physical conditions and summer clothes. One day before all the climbers will have meeting with the mountain guide at our office or in the hotel, who will give a BRIEFING about this climb and also you can check the quality of the climb gear will be used on the mountain.
PORTER SERVICE will cost $58 USD us dollars per day, to carry your personal items. You will need to carry with you a daypack with your Camera, bottle of water, snacks, a fleece or something warm and anything you will need before lunch as porters do not walk alongside you. Your bag will be waiting for you in your tent at campsites.
